Food options around town:
For a town with a population of just 30,000 people, Northampton has a ridiculous number of restaurants--well over 60 restaurants--several of gourmet quality, and with a variety of cuisiness. There is a vegetarian restaurant, brewery, diners, a noodle shop, and an all-you-can eat buffet with sushi. There are also a plethora of ethnic options, including Tibetan, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Argentinian, Moroccan, French, Mexican. Having said that, we do not suggest leaving the expo for lunch if you are planning to return to the show later that day. Even though downtown is just 1-2 miles away, and it's not a vast metropolis by any means, it's easy to take longer than planned. By the time you leave the show, drive downtown, choose your restaraunt, park, eat, get back to the hotel, and park again, meanwhile potentially missing several good talks or exhibit hall time. For most people, it makes more sense to eat at the hotel, and save the excursions for before or after the show.
Lodging
To receive the group contracted rate at the Clarion, call the hotel directly at 413.586.1211 and mention Whole Health Expo 2010. The cut-off date for reserving rooms at the expo rate is March 16, 2010, however there are a limited number of rooms available at the expo rate. PLEASE BOOK EARLY. The expo rate is discounted to $109 for 1-2 person occupancy standard rooms with 2 Queen size beds; this includes smoking, non-smoking, or pet friendly. It's also $109 for handicap/non-smoking with 1 Queen size bed. Expo rates for Poolside, Balcony, King Size Bed, Suites, and 3-4 person occupancy range from $119-$159. Rooms include free wireless Internet and dataports. Hotel has heated indoor pool under a beautiful atrium. Click here for a list of all amenities.
Room types are subject to availability and it's possible that the Clarion will sell out overall. Mid-April is a high demand period for hotel rooms in Northampton and the surrounding towns, due to area student graduations. As a general rule, it's more expensive to stay at the hotels where the expo is held, but also much more convenient. Sometimes you can find good deals online.
